When I left for Oslo on Wednesday morning (May 10th), I was not aware of the weather that awaited me. After passing Drammen, and climbing the hills up to Lier, the snow had settled on the ground, and it was starting to settle on the main road as well. Since I just put on new summer tires last week, naturally I was a bit worried. Luckily it stayed just above freezing, and no ice formed on the roads.

May 11th, Thursday morning, after staying the night at my sister’s place at Rykkinn, I had to do something I am pretty sure I’ve never ever done in May month – i.e. clean snow off my car.

At the Blindern Meteorological Institute in Oslo, they had the first measurable snowfall in May in 50 years – so I guess you can say it is a bit out of the ordinary. Tryvann at 500 meters elevation, had 40cm snow night to Thursday.

I wonder how the summer will turn out? I really hope I get to complain about the heat again 😛
