Shannon Ware – These are the wild kind. Five years ago, we had an amazing wild strawberry season, and we picked nearly a kilo and put it into strong alcohol to make a wild strawberry liqueur. We enjoyed it as ice cream topping in the winter – and the flavours were incredible!
Lars Fosdal Interesting. Last year picking strawberries, I noticed that the sun-exposed ones were smaller and sweeter, while the ones deep beneath leaves were larger but not as sweet. (The same amount of sugar distributed over a larger volume???) I still assume this one is very sweet.
Now the dilemma is to enjoy the sweetness or plant out the half-a-hundred strawberry plants tucked away inside.
