Embarcadero RAD Solution Pack

Embarcadero RAD Solution Pack

Is this on your shopping list? Personally, I think the bundle is too large and contain components that are too disjunct to bundle.

“The ultimate collection of VCL and FMX tools and components for Delphi and C++Builder to enhance your applications and boost your productivity. The RAD Solution Pack delivers charting, reporting, grids, UI controls, debugging, analytics and IoT components and tools into a single high powered and cost effective solution. An incredible value of over $6,000 worth of components and tools!”

  1. My personal problem is that I already have valid licenses for some of those components. Others I probably won’t need at all. In addition they are a little bit shy with the price. All that keeps my intention to ask for it a bit low. I would prefer a selection list where I can check the parts I actually need and that will lead to a reasonable price for such an individual package.

  2. No information on pricing always makes me wary. Somebody who already uses half of these tools and does not have an active update plan probably saves a bit even if he does not use the rest of the bundle. Everybody else will find that the steep learning curve will keep him from getting enough value for his money.

I actually try to limit the number of 3rd party components used because it’s a pain in the lower back to keep up with the updates and keeping version control in sync. Especially with the half yearly update cycle of Delphi now.

  3. Going through Emb’s store, I have VCL/FMX @ AU$2688 each, or both for AU$3884 – Way out of reach of this hobby programmer.

Even CodeSite (which is the only thing I would be interested in) is AU$894 – close to the code of the IDE for a year. 🙁

  4. This offer doesn’t make any sense to me. The different packages have a quite different target audience. For me it’s hard to imagine a developer who will need all of these components (e.g. the target audience for Beacon fence seems to be quite small at the moment).

I couldn’t even find more info on Radiant Shapes – the old Raize homepage directs back to Embarcadero where no further info is available.

And finally: no price info – I can’t imaging why I have to contact sales instead of finding the price directly on this page.

I somehow like the idea that Embarcadero tries to establish a sales platform for 3rd party components. But instead of offering this strange package they should offer single packages with a certain discount for update subscription users.

  5. Fred Ahrens Although the page still mentions “contact sales” the item is already available with a fixed price in the online store. That was not true when I looked last. But I agree: the bundle is way to broad and therefore overpriced for most of the Delphi developers. It may be worth it if you actually can make use of all those components. The majority however would have to pay for things they don’t need or don’t want.

  6. If no price is listed I’m going to assume it’s not a very good offer, and generally quite expensive. As in, “if the price is an issue it’s out of your league”.

  7. Asbjørn Heid It could as well be that the price is negotiable or depends on your perceived financial power (probably depending on where you live). Anyway, there IS a known price now (and it depends on the area you live).

  8. Nerver build anything deployed on bundled licenses. What if Murphy comes along and you really really need that support? That said, why pay for trials?
