  1. Heh.. Swimming dangerously close to a trademark issue on that one too.
    Ikea names some items for places in Norway. I’m currently sitting in my office at Ekornes ASA’s main facility, taking up a good chunk of the Ikornnes shoreline :p

    Around here, It’s fairly common that local places are named after the major farm situated there, but sometimes with slightly different spelling (usually ideologically charged such as bokmål vs. nynorsk spelling metods or by sheer intereference from the mapping authorities).
    At Ikornnes (Squirrel Point, literally), it’s the Ekornes farm, family and subsequently the Ekornes furniture company (makers of Stressless) :p
